Pikmin Fanlisting [05 Nov 2009|12:36pm]

I recently made a fanlisting for one of my favourite game characters, Pikmin. If you are also a fan of them, please do consider joining and showing your love for our little pikpiks!

Valiant - The Pikmin Fanlisting

"What is a fanlisting?" some of you might ask? A detailed desciption can be found here: http://thefanlistings.org/tfl101.php But mainly, it's just for fun and to create a small dedication to something you like!

New members would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

A proposal [20 May 2006|12:35pm]

[ mood | awake ]

Since wii now have the official name of the console, the Wii, and the fact that it seems like the majority of the posts are cross-posted between here and nintendo_wii... Well, I think its about time to just take down this community and put all of the focus into nintendo_wii. This way, things will stay in one central location for those that dont cross-post, and also so we dont have to flip back and forth between the two to keep up with comments on the same posts.

I've been scooped! [15 May 2006|03:13am]

[ mood | amused ]

Hey peach_mod! Remember this post?

I wrote that back in January. But look at point #16.
A speaker that plugs into the controller's expansion port, which can give off sound effects like gunshots, sword clashes, ejected brass casings hitting the floor.

It just so happens that the remote will have a speaker built right into it. It even makes a clinging noise when you pick up a coin in Mario Galaxy.

Fan, cooling in Wii? [12 May 2006|03:21am]

Any idea if the Wii or Revolution will have a fan to cool itself? The Gamecube has a good sized fan. I wonder how Nintendo will squeeze a fan into the Wii's small case. :) I guess the holes for the exhaust are at the back of the case, next to the power cord.

Just wondering.

Press Conference [09 May 2006|01:51pm]

was anyone able to watch the E3 press conference? I'm glad Nintendo just told it like it was "we're not here to wow you with graphics, we're just here to deliver solid games" -- ok, I paraphrased that.

I am glad the Wiimote has a wrist teather, my first thought was that I'd wind up throwing it across the room the first day I got it.

Not crossposted, because everyone in the Rev community is already in the Wii community

So, E3 is almost upon us, and we're all excited.

However, I would like to set up just a few more rules for posting in the comm. They're common sense, but please:
1) To cut down on repeat posts, please check a few posts back in the comm, to make sure what you want to post hasn't already been posted.
2) Don't post long ass URLs. Put them in the handy-dandy HTML tag. I'm sure most of us know how to do it, but if you don't, just check the LJ FAQ. That's what it's for.
3) Please put bigger pics behind a cut. No one likes to have their friends page all screwed up from a big picture. Again, if you need to know how to do it, check the LJ FAQ.

Most importantly, have a fun E3!

Okay, let me know if this post is far too... short and non-informative or something...

But I just had to quote this:

"Fishing, archery and sword-fighting will all be pulled off by your wrist (as if it isn’t strained enough over all those screenshots and trailers, right fanboys? Ho ho ho!)"

from here: http://super-combo.com/index.php/wario-ware-wii-confirmed-wii-tennis-zelda-twilight-princess-to-be-enhanced-with-wii/ in which Time magazine gives Wii some juicy publicity!

(Oh, and my thoughts on the PS3 controller? *points to icon*)

PS3 controller = rip off [09 May 2006|02:57am]

[ mood | disappointed ]

I just saw the Sony thing on E3. They are sooooo reipping off the Nintendo Wii with their controller. No imagination has gone into it at all. It looks JUST like a PS2 controller, except it has a tilt sensor. ¬_¬

Sony, you fail to impress me in every way possible... Viva la Nintendo!

Sqeenix launch titles [08 May 2006|06:20pm]

From the SquareEnix conference at E3...

- Dragon Quest Swords for the Nintendo Wii ... ! Announced as launch title.
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers for Wii.

Pretty much guaranteed to make a good launch in Japan and at least fair sales in the US.

From Time Magazine regarding the Nintendo Wii (Revolution ) [08 May 2006|01:07am]
"It's a remarkable experience. Instead of passively playing the games, with the new controller you physically perform them... The sense of immersion--the illusion that you, personally, are projected into the game world--is powerful. And there's an instant party atmosphere in the room."

My first and ONLY post about the name! [04 May 2006|09:50pm]

[ mood | pensive ]

Fill in the Blank: ' W i i _ '
Yes, Wii is a silly name and I think I figured out why. All good nonsensically named properties have at least two syllables. Goo~gle, Ya~hoo, Flick~r, X~box. What the Wii needs is an extra syllable. Maybe calling it the Wii~d would garner the interest of the pothead crowd? Or what about the Wii~D~O, like the 3DO? Yeah, that's just asking to crash and burn. I honestly do think if it had just one more sound attached we'd be ok with it.

Beyond the potty references I think it's the seemingly ambiguous and kinda wimpy feel you get from saying Wii. You can't yell it out. It drifts off the tongue like a leaf in a storm. You can't cover your ears and repeatedly scream it inside your fanboy head to drown out the PS3 fanboys. The more you say it, the more you think of 'we-we-weiners' and going 'we we wee-wee'. There's more to be said on what sound could be added to the name but I just can't figure it out myself. Please, discuss.

Enough. Enough now.
And that is the first and last time I'm going to post about the name. I think it's silly to go on and on and back and forth about it. I don't sit around in Road & Track's forums but I doubt anyone debates the 'coolness' of new car names and refuses to buy one based solely on what Dodge or Mitsubishi are calling it. Yes, Snakes on a Plane is a retarded name for a movie but we all got over it once we understood it. I can't think of any other form of entertainment whose avid fans whine about the name of a new product. But it happens all the time in gaming.

People laughed in my face when I told them I spent $400 on something called a Play Station. I remember people going nuts over the Dreamcast when it was first named. We couldn't believe it was really going to be called the X-Box. And remember when it was codenamed the StarCube and we were struck to hear and see the GameCube? What'd it take, a few months and we'd accepted it?

It's called the Wii. It's wimpy but that's the name, and dammit, I'm doing my best to accept it! According to the patent news Nintendo solidified their choice last November. They've had plenty of time to beat themselves up over it and it's just Wii. Thank you, I'll shut up now.

Have you guys checked out the developer behind Raid over the river and Sadness?.

They seem to be pretty rabid nintendo fans, but something about them is odd. They actually suggest that Sadness only be played by people over 21.. I'm sorry to be suspicious, but nintendo is well known for being stingy with who can develop for their systems. And letting an upstart with new IP's that don't exactly fit their "family friendly" be a third party supporter for them is an interesting turn for them. Then again they've been taking a lot of interesting turns as of late.

BTW if you check their site you can find some songs for some of their games, kind of low qualtiy (almost sound like MIDIs), but they get you a feel for them . I like the raid over the river one!

So, do I really have to be the first one to recognize this?

"Wii Will Rock You"

is inevitable, somewhere. I REALLY hope there won't be a commercial.

perhaps "We Are the Champions"

Any other songs you folks can scheme up?

Holy crap I'm actually liking EA right now [29 Apr 2006|03:55pm]

IGN did and interview with the gerenal studio manager for EA about the new Madden game in developmnent and he just happened to drop a few juicy tidbits. He pretty much confirmed that the nunchuck attatchment does have a accelerometer in it, and has said that they will be showing their game in 480p at 60 fps and widescreen.

And just because E3 is coming up I'm going to toss in my bit of totally baseless speculation, the remote uses gyroscopic force feed back, and the online aspect of the system is cool, but a little dissapointing.

I don't know how many of you actually care (and I know someones going to make fun of me for it, but I can take my hits), but Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is officially coming out on the Rev/Wii (take your pick, eh. :P). Here's the IGN article (tried to see if I could find some info on Atari's site, but found nothing).
"Using the Nintendo Revolution controller, players will be able to mimic signature moves as they are performed in the Dragon Ball Z animated series, such as Goku's Kamehameha, moving both hands to executive this devastating energy attack," Atari stated.
I love me the DBZ, and this game sounds like it's going to rock. Yeah, I'm a nerd.

Aw, heck, while I'm at it, two other cartoons that I love are getting games on the Rev/Wii, Avatar and Spongebob.

And maybe the most intriguing, Famitsu mag has rumoured that our humble little system will get a NiGHTS game. Now, it's just a rumour, so take with a grain of salt. I never played the original, but I've heard nothing but praise for the Saturn game, so hopefully this turns out to be more than just another rumour.

I could go on, but I think I've rambled enough.

And, as always, Viva la *insert perfered name for system*. ;D

Cross posted to nintendo_wii and nintendo_rev, just because I can. And to make sure everyone sees it at least once.
